Do you like comics? Well, this is a comic that has a moral. It’s called The Tiger’s Whisker. It is a type of tale that is called a wisdom tale. What is a wisdom tale? A wisdom tale is a short story around 1 – 3 pages that has a moral. They tend to be from a long time ago. Wisdom tales come from all places; this one comes from Southeast Asia.
I chose to do this tale for a few reasons. One, it’s simple but meaningful. Two, I thought it was interesting. Finally three, it has a good moral. That moral is be patient and don’t rush things.
This comic is about a women whose lover just came back from war and isn’t loving her. She decides to seek help from a wise old man. He says that if she gets a tiger’s whisker, he can make her a love potion. She agrees and goes out into the jungle. She finds a tiger in a cave and every day inches a little bit closer. This goes on for months. She finally gets right next to the tiger and snips the tiger’s whisker. She goes back to the wise old man. He throws the whisker in the fire and he says that if she can tame a tiger, she can have her lover love her again.
We had a man come to our school named Brittain Peck. He taught us that complicated drawings are not always better. He also said that you can use simple shapes to make a great piece of art.
